Lights & brights collection | 2022 women’s united art prize finalist

Collection Launch: Lights & Brights

This limited edition unframed Fine Art Giclee print is from my intentional camera movement collection. The resulting images are at the same time vibrant, dreamy, abstract and bold, inspired by the abstract expressionist paintings and pictorialist photography movements.

About ICM Photography: Intentional Camera Movement Photography is a fascinating and beautiful world where the camera and the photographer’s movements combine to become a mechanical paintbrush - transforming photographic capture into something completely unique and otherwise invisible to the naked eye. n a photographic world generally obsessed with image sharpness, there are photographic artists amongst us who give little thought to everything we’ve ever been taught about photography to create spectacular images by intentionally moving their cameras during capture.

I am so excited about this collection and having these abstract photography prints for sale now in the Print Shop. Some pieces from this collection include Bella Nottes, Misty Nights, Moondance, and more!

2022 Women’s United Art Prize

I also am thrilled to announce that I was named a finalist in the 2022 Women’s United Art Prize. Women United ART PRIZE aims to recognize talented women creatives from around the globe who are passionate about their craft and ready to share their unique work with the world.

Women United ART PRIZE is a contemporary art prize aimed at celebrating female artists who work in 2D format across the globe. The art prize is organized by Women United ART MOVEMENT, a collective that creates diverse art opportunities with a mission to highlight women in the arts around the globe.

I was honored to be a finalist alongside some very talented artists in the Photography and Printmaking Category.

About the Artist

Jennifer Hulley is a creative, multi-passionate digital creator who works in several mediums, mainly focusing on photography and mixed media collage.  With a dedication to authentic, intuitive creation, she believes that everyone and everything has a captivating story to tell if you're willing to look beyond first glance.

After attending university in Toronto, she embarked on one of her biggest adventures to date: living and working abroad as a primary school teacher in London, England.  It was during this time that she found herself surrounded by an incredible amount of beauty, detail and "stories" and this is what ignited her love for the art of photography, as a way to document her experiences.

Back home now in Burlington, Ontario she finds herself on yet another big adventure: living as a solo mom to her three-year-old son and a new rescue pup while learning to balance it all as she launches herself into full-time self-employment as an artist and photographer.

For this specific collection, the artist focused on abstract minimalist and long exposure photography in the form of Intentional Camera Movement Photography.

A Look into the Shop

Statement from the artist

The images selected are from my intentional camera movement collection in which everyday objects and scenes are rendered in a unique abstract capture.

Vibrant colours, heavy shadows, and surreal blurring of lines and structures have created images that are undefined and open to interpretation. The images are simultaneously vibrant, dreamy, abstract and bold, inspired by both abstract expressionist painting and pictorialist photography movements.

The collection aims to inspire wonder, imagination and possibilities as the viewer considers what is before them in their own environment. Byshowcasing otherwise ordinary viewpoints through an unusual perspective I hope to challenge the viewer to reconsider what is before them in their own life and what potential lies waiting to be uncovered.
