Misty Nights
Description
This image was made at Walt Disney Studios, a place I’ve visited more times than I can count. And maybe that’s the point. Sometimes, the familiar can make us stop looking. We fall into patterns, take the same photos, collect duplicates of the same moments and landmarks, as if repetition equals memory.
This piece was born out of a desire to see differently. To break the rhythm. To stretch what I thought I could do with a camera. Created using intentional movement, it captures that feeling of walking through a city at night, when the pavement is slick with mist, and the lights blur into something dreamlike. It reminds me of the way neon reflects in puddles. The glow. The distortion. The quiet hum of a night not yet over.
A photograph, yes. But also a reflection. A reminder that magic doesn’t always come from new places, sometimes it lives in how we choose to look again.
This piece was selected as a finalist for a 2023 fine art photography award with Women’s Art United.
